Informality and Culture

As another pattern observed in Learning Circle 1, there is a relationship between informality and transmission of culture. Is the informal sector a better ¨¨keeper of culture¨? Formalizing sometimes means leaving traditions behind, via standardization or modernization of some methods. For example in Mauritius, formalization means processing all documentation in French, although business and day-to-day interactions are done in Creole.
